Continue Command in AutoCAD
The continue command in AutoCAD is used to quickly add a dimension that continues from the endpoint of the previous dimension. This command is useful when dimensioning multiple objects or parts in a series, as it ensures that the new dimension is aligned with the previous one, maintaining consistency in the drawing.
To use the continue command:
- Type DIMCONTINUE in the command line or select the "Continue" dimension tool from the ribbon.
- Click the endpoint of the previous dimension to continue the new dimension from that point.
- Then, select the next point or object you want to dimension.
- Press Enter to place the dimension at the correct location.
The continue command is helpful for efficiently adding consecutive dimensions without needing to re-specify the base point or origin each time, saving time during the dimensioning process.
