Ordinate Command in AutoCAD
The ordinate command in AutoCAD is used to create ordinate dimensions, which are measurements that show the distance from a specific baseline or origin point. Ordinate dimensions are commonly used in situations where it is necessary to measure the relative position of objects from a fixed reference point, typically in mechanical and architectural drawings.
To use the ordinate command:
- Type DIMORDINATE in the command line.
- Specify the origin or baseline point from which the ordinate dimensions will be measured.
- Click on the points you want to dimension relative to the origin.
- Press Enter to complete the dimensioning.
Ordinate dimensions are useful for creating consistent and precise measurements based on a reference point, which helps in organizing and standardizing the dimensions in a drawing.
