Ordinate Command in AutoCAD

The ordinate command in AutoCAD is used to create ordinate dimensions, which are measurements that show the distance from a specific baseline or origin point. Ordinate dimensions are commonly used in situations where it is necessary to measure the relative position of objects from a fixed reference point, typically in mechanical and architectural drawings.

To use the ordinate command:

  1. Type DIMORDINATE in the command line.
  2. Specify the origin or baseline point from which the ordinate dimensions will be measured.
  3. Click on the points you want to dimension relative to the origin.
  4. Press Enter to complete the dimensioning.

Ordinate dimensions are useful for creating consistent and precise measurements based on a reference point, which helps in organizing and standardizing the dimensions in a drawing.
